31 Weeks Pregnant

Why certain nutrients are so important

Your baby’s hands are now fully formed and they spend time grasping their other hand or feet. Baby is now storing iron, calcium and phosphorous so make sure you are getting enough of these nutrients in your diet.

Your baby's development

Your baby's development

Your baby now weighs about 1.45kg and is around 41cm long.

The lanugo, or fine hair, which has covered their body to keep them warm, will begin to disappear from their face, as the fat that they’ve gained will provide more than enough insulation.

Their memory is developing too. One study has shown that babies, who were played a particular tune whilst in the womb, responded to it after birth.

Your body

Your baby may still be quite high up; as a result many women may feel breathless. It’s just your uterus pressing against your diaphragm. If you feel discomfort, talk to your doctor.

Your baby may not drop down into your pelvis until you are 36 weeks and for some mums, this may not happen until the beginning of labour. In the meantime, try to get as much rest and relaxation as possible.
